A major redevelopment of Frank Norton Reserve is set to begin in late January 2025. Over the past 18 months, the project has involved a thorough master planning process, including three rounds of community consultation to refine the design. The aim of the upgrade is to improve the reserve's character and amenities, enhancing play areas, pathways, picnic and BBQ spaces, and lighting.

A contractor has been appointed, and works are scheduled to commence at the end of the summer school holidays in late January 2025.

Key features of the redevelopment include:

  • A new playspace with a climbing frame, flying fox, sand play, swings, slides, trampolines, rockers, and spinning discs
  • New paths and landscaping
  • A new central BBQ area with shelter and picnic settings
  • Upgraded irrigation for the turf area
  • Expanded fencing around the playspace (though not fully enclosed)
  • New seating
  • Enhanced lighting

Additionally, services and electrical infrastructure will be installed to support a potential future public toilet, should the community request this amenity.

Please note that the reserve will be closed during the redevelopment works. However, several nearby parks and reserves will are available for public use:

  • Cowandilla Reserve (Western Youth Centre) – 79 Marion Road, Cowandilla
  • Falcon Ave Reserve – 10 Falcon Ave, Mile End
  • West Torrens Memorial Gardens – Brooker Terrace, Hilton
  • College Grove Reserve – Lipsett Terrace, Brooklyn Park
  • Mellor Park Reserve – 363 Henley Beach Road, Lockleys
  • Lysle Street Reserve – Lysle Street, Brooklyn Park

We look forward to the exciting improvements coming to Frank Norton Reserve in 2025!
