Home compost systems, worm farming and kitchen caddy rebates

Council supports residents who wish to recycle food waste for their own use by providing a rebate on the purchase of a compost bin, worm farm or other home compost system, whether purchased from Council or from a retail outlet. A rebate is also available for the purchase of a kitchen caddy and a roll of compostable bags from a retail outlet.

Rebates

  • Compost bin/system or worm farm - up to 50 per cent of the cost (maximum $50)
  • Kitchen caddy and roll of compostable bags - up to $20. NOTE: A free kitchen caddy and compostable bags are available from Council's Civic Centre, 165 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Hilton.

Eligibility criteria

  • rebates are available to West Torrens' residents only
  • proof of residency is required
  • one rebate per household only
  • For a compost bin/system or worm farm that has been purchased privately, a copy of the retailer's receipt must be provided with the application
  • Applications must be made no later than 6 months from purchase date
  • Rebates are provided by cheque or Bank Transfer only
  • Rebates do not include transport, postage or delivery costs
  • Rebates are available until budget allocation has been exhausted

How to apply

If you wish to purchase a compost bin/system or worm farm through Council, complete a Worm farm and compost bin order form. The rebate will be deducted from the order.
