Citizenship ceremonies
The City of West Torrens conducts citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services. Ceremonies are conducted throughout the year as required.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services allocate all applicants to attend a ceremony in order of approval date and will invite applicants to attend a ceremony which will be held at a location to be determined by the Council.
Enquiries
Enquiries regarding citizenship ceremonies can be made to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Service via email or phone 131 881. People who need to contact the Department urgently should first check the website as many enquiries and applications are now resolved online. If you are unable to locate the information, contact the Global Service Centre which may be able to organise an appointment for those who have urgent needs. The Global Service Centre phone service uses the Department's TIS national service and provides services in more than 120 languages.
Dress code
When taking part in a citizenship ceremony at council, and to reflect the importance and dignity of the occasion, we recommend smart casual wear. Traditional dress is also welcome.
Citizenship ceremonies wait times
The Department of Home Affairs Citizenship Division has data available to reflect 'wait times' by local government area to assist with managing client (conferee) expectations around when approved applicants will be invited to attend a citizenship ceremony.
