Traffic restrictions in West Beach on Sunday 20 October

On Sunday 20 October there will be two events that will restrict traffic on Military Road and West Beach Road: the Bay to Birdwood and the West Beach Triathlon.

For a number of years the Bay to Birdwood convoy of classic cars has started its drive from West Beach before heading into the Adelaide Hills. Due to this event, please note the following restrictions:

  • West Beach Road will be closed in both directions between 6.30am - 11.30am, with buses re-routed until 12noon.
  • Residents along West Beach Road are able to leave via any northern exit off West Beach Road, but will not be able to re-enter until 11.30 am.
  • Normal traffic conditions will resume around 11.30 am.
  • Parking bays along West Beach Road, from Military Road to Tapleys Hill Road, and the car park at Barratt Reserve will be unavailable from midnight Saturday 19 October until 12noon Sunday 20 October.

Sunday 20 October also see the running of the inaugural West Beach Triathlon which will feature events for children and adults. Due to this event, please note the following restrictions:

  • Military Road south of West Beach Road be closed in both directions from 5.30am.
  • Normal traffic conditions are expected to resume around 12noon.
