As part of our upgrade plans for the reserve at Karkungka, a new fibreglass modular pump track is being installed.

The current dirt track will be closed to enable installation to occur, with the new track to be opened by mid-January 2025.

We had hoped that the new modular track would be ready for the Summer holiday season, however delivery delays stalled works. We understand that closing the dirt track during the holiday season is not ideal and we apologise for this inconvenience.

Preparation works at the site begin on 16 December 2024 and while the bike track will be fenced off, the remainder of the reserve will be open for public use.

When the new track opens in mid-January 2025 it will provide a much-enhanced facility at the reserve, with the new pump track being accessible for all wheeled sports, including bikes of all types, scooters, skateboards and balanced bikes.

While works are being undertaken, people can use the BMX/skate parks located at West Beach Parks, Africaine Road, Adelaide Airport or Apex Park, 616 Burbridge Road, West Beach.
