Joining our Library service is easy and free and there is no age limit.

We are a member of LibrariesSA

The West Torrens Library Service is a member of LibrariesSA, a collaborative state-wide network of over 130 public libraries. If you are already a member of a South Australian public library, you can use that card to borrow items from us. You can also return our items to any other SA public library and other SA public library items can be returned to us (although there are some exceptions, e.g. toys, board games, sporting equipment etc.).

If you are a member of another library and recently moved into West Torrens, we encourage you to inform our library team so we can update your account details on our state-wide database.

Children and youth under 18 years of age need to be registered by a parent or legal guardian over 18 years of age.

If you are an overseas student and/or live independently under the age of 18, are under state care, have limited address details or have no fixed abode, please contact us on 8416 6228 to discuss membership possibilities.

Register in person

You can register for membership at the Hamra Centre Library or on the Mobile Library. To join the Library you will need to show us identification (ID) that shows your name, current address and date of birth.

Register online

You can register for membership through our online catalogue, or through the LibrariesSA app. This will give you immediate access to our digital collections and eResources. If you want to borrow physical items, we require you to show us identification (ID) that shows your name, current address and date of birth. You can place holds on up to five items before we see your ID. To complete your registration, visit the Hamra Centre Library or the Mobile Library and remember to bring your ID.
