West Torrens Historical Society meetings with guest speakers

• Monday 22 July, 7.15pm - Mayor Michael S Coxon, City of West Torrens, ‘The importance of local history’. 

Support from the City of West Torrens and its resources and staff at the Hamra Centre Library are fundamental to the success of the Historical Society. Come and hear why the Mayor believes preserving local history is important. 

• Monday 26 August, 7.15pm. Michael Keelan, horticulturalist.

Michael will talk about how our gardens have changed over the years and which plants grow best on the coastal floodplains. 

• Monday 23 September, 7.15pm. Patricia Sumerling, historian.

Patricia will talk about Adelaide’s parklands and recount bizarre stories and controversies, which date from early settlement to the current day.

• Monday 28 October, 7.15pm. Peter Goers, radio icon.

Peter will share his memories and views as he reflects on his life as an actor, critic, journalist and radio icon.
