The Boulevard of Honour along Burbridge Road (renamed in 2001 to Sir Donald Bradman Drive) was an initiative to commemorate 50 years since the end of World War Two.

Plane trees planted in 1995 for the Adelaide Arrive project along Burbridge Road were ideal to use as a focal point as these were already established along the proposed route from Adelaide Airport to South Road.

At the base of each tree are memorial plaques set into the pavement honouring those who enlisted in the City of West Torrens for World War 2.
