West Torrens Historical Society

The West Torrens Historical Society is a voluntary not-for-profit organisation founded in March 1976. It records, collects and researches matters of historical interest relating to the people, businesses, events, land and buildings within West Torrens.

The Society also strives to generate interest in local history among residents of the area by holding open meetings during which guest speakers make presentations on a wide range of subjects.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the West Torrens area.

Meetings

  • The Society meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:45pm at 327 Marion Road, North Plympton.
  • Meetings are not held in December.
  • Meetings scheduled on public holidays are held on the third Monday of the month.

Digitised records

The West Torrens Historical society, together with the Hamra Centre Library, has been digitising its records. Hundreds of the Society's files - photographs, images, documents, transcribed interviews and newspaper reports are already accessible on the Library's website.
