8 February 2025 - Changed traffic conditions

Council's Summer Festival event 'Music in the Park' will be held at Weigall Oval, North Plympton on Saturday 8 February 2025.

During the event there will be increased traffic in the area. For this reason, the below traffic conditions will be put in place between approximately 2pm and 11.30pm.

  • No standing on eastern side of Birdwood Terrace, between Murdoch Avenue and Laverack Road.
  • 25km/hr speed limit on roads adjacent to the event site (Oval Terrace, Birdwood Terrace and Urrbrae Terrace).
  • Attended parking located on the grassed area between McArthur Avenue and Birdwood Terrace.

1 February 2025 - Changed traffic conditions

Council's Summer Festival event 'Touch a truck' will be held at Apex Park, West Beach on Saturday 1 February 2025.

During the event there will be increased traffic in the area. For this reason, the below traffic conditions will be put in place between approximately 6am - 2.30pm.

  • Speed reduced to 25km/hr on Burbridge Road between Tapleys Hill Road and Davis Street.
  • Single lane closure for west bound traffic on Burbridge Road between Weston Street and Davis Street. This is to accommodate the temporary, public parking which will be available on the land adjacent to Apex Park. This car park will be open for the duration of the event and have parking attendants present.

18 January 2025 - Changed traffic conditions

Council's Summer Festival event 'Splash' will be held at Mellor Park, Lockleys on Saturday 18 January 2025.

During the event there will be increased traffic in the area. For this reason, the below traffic conditions will be put in place between approximately 6.30am - 3.30pm.

  • 'No standing' on the western side of White Avenue from the corner of Henley Beach Road to Anthus Street.
  • Speed reduce to 25km/hr on Henley Beach Road between Gertrude Street and Autumn Avenue.

24 December 2024 - Impounded vehicles and goods

Impounded vehicles

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 237 of the Local Government Act, 1999, that the following vehicles have been impounded by the City of West Torrens.

  • (SA)WHF503 – white Holden sedan from Maynard Road, Plympton.
  • (SA)WBH640 – white Ford van from South Road, Torrensville.

Council has been unable to locate the registered owners of the vehicles. If they are not claimed by the registered owners and all expenses related to the impoundments are not paid within one month of the date of this notice, the vehicles will be sold or otherwise disposed of by Council.

Unclaimed goods

Unclaimed Goods Regulations 1998 (Under the Unclaimed Goods Act 1987).

Council is also in possession of numerous goods which were located in the vehicles listed above.

Goods located in the white Holden sedan:

  • steering wheel cover

  • 1 soccer ball
  • tripod
  • hooded jumper
  • red rope
  • jumper cables

Goods located from the white Ford van:

  • socks
  • side mirror
  • ruler
  • plastic mirror
  • hose
  • wiper blades

  • hi-vis vest
  • rubbish.

The owners of these items, or such other persons who may know the owners of the above items, is requested to collect them within 42 days of the date of this notice from the Council's Civic Centre,165 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. If items are not collected by the due date, the Bailee may, after 3 months, sell or dispose of the items in accordance with the Unclaimed Goods Act 1987.

2 December 2024 - Impounded vehicle and goods

Impounded vehicle

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to Section 237 of the Local Government Act, 1999, that the following vehicle has been impounded by the City of West Torrens:

• Red 6x4 trailer, no registration plate, from Herbert Road, Ashford.

Due to no registration plate, Council has been unable to locate the registered owner of the vehicle. If the vehicle is not claimed by the registered owner, and all expenses related to its impoundment are not paid within one month of the date of this notice, the vehicle will be sold or otherwise disposed of by Council.

The City of West Torrens is also in possession of a number of goods including camp chairs, gardening and household items. A full list of items can be found below.

The owner, or such other person as may be the owner of the goods, is requested to collect them within 42 days of the date of this notice. The goods are available for collection at 165 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Hilton between the hours of 9am-4pm Monday-Friday. 

If they are not collected by the due date, the bailee may, after 3 months, proceed to sell or dispose of the goods in accordance with the Unclaimed Goods Act 1987.

24 July 2024 - Public notice By-law review

In accordance with Section 249 (7) of the Local Government Act 1999, the City of West Torrens gives notice of the making of the following by-laws at its meeting of 16 July 2024.

Permits and Penalties By-law 2024

To provide for a permit system, to fix maximum penalties in Council by-laws, to clarify the construction of such by-laws, and to repeal certain by-laws.

Local Government Land By-law 2024

For the management and regulation of the use of and access to all land vested in or under the control of the Council including the prohibition and regulation of particular activities on local government land.

Roads By-law 2024

For the management of public roads.

Moveable Signs By-law 2024

To set standards for moveable signs on roads, to provide conditions for and the placement of such signs, to protect public safety and to protect or enhance the amenity of the area of the Council.

Dogs By-law 2024

For the management and control of dogs within the Council’s area.

In accordance with Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1999, the above By-laws come into operation on 25 July 2024.

Copies of the By-law are available for inspection at the Council’s offices, 165 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Hilton during ordinary office hours (9:00am to 5:00pm).  Alternatively, they can be accessed on Council’s website www.westtorrens.sa.gov.au
