DIT major projects

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) is currently undertaking various major projects in and around West Torrens that affect both commuters and pedestrians.

While these projects are not Council-led projects, it is important that our community is provided with information which may affect them as they move about our local city.

Any concerns or issues should be directed to DIT not Council.

We will endeavour to update this information as more projects are started and completed. 

Tram grade separation projects

South Road Tram Overpass Upgrade

This $15.4 billion project will see the tram overpass on South Road, Glandore, rebuild to accommodate the T2D project.

Morphett Road Level Crossing Removal

This $200 million project will remove the level crossing at Morphett Road, Morphettville to reduce traffic congestion.

At a cost of $400 million, the removal of these level crossings will reduce traffic congestion.

Intersection upgrades

Marion Road and Sir Donald Bradman Drive

With around 60,000 vehicles passing through this intersection each day, this $85 million intersection upgrade will make journeys safer and more reliable.

James Congdon Drive and Sir Donald Bradman Drive upgrade

DIT is planning to upgrade this intersection by introducing right turn lanes from James Congdon Drive into Sir Donald Bradman Drive (city-bound) to improve network connectivity for motorists.

Richmond Road and Railway Terrace intersection upgrade

This $70 million project is part of the $850 million package of broader network upgrades and is currently in its design stage.
