About Community gardens
Do you want to grow your own produce but just don't have the space in your yard or you don't know where to start?
Council has 3 community gardens in West Torrens, located in Plympton, Torrensville and Netley and 1 new garden under construction in Kurralta Park.
Both the Plympton and Torrensville gardens operate on an allocated plot system, where each gardener has their own plot to work on. While the Kurralta Park and Netley gardens are to be managed as a collective.
The great part is that whichever site, community gardening is free for all West Torrens residents. Right now we are cultivating 234m2 of productive garden space across Plympton, Torrensville and Netley and we are currently constructing the Kurralta Park Garden site.
Community gardening isn't just about growing food - it's about making connections with your neighbours and sharing common interests. Joining in can mean less stress, more community catch ups and lots of good vibes. Plus, we are all about being eco-friendly, beautifying our neighbourhoods and sharing tasty, nutritious treats. So why not get your hands dirty, share some smiles and grow more plants together!
