Aliona is the president of non-for-profit organisation the Slava Ukrainian Cultural Centre Inc. Aliona's dedication to preserving and celebrating Ukrainian culture is evident through her weekly dance classes and it is through these efforts that she plays a vital role in keeping Ukrainian traditions alive and fostering a sense of unity and pride within the community.  The group regularly fundraises for humanitarian aid for Ukrainian displaced persons in South Australia and for medical aid to Ukraine. The group also provides vital support to new arrivals from Ukraine. In 2022 Aliona was presented with a Community Quiet Achiever's Award from the Multicultural Community Council of SA and was a highly commended finalist for the Governor's Multicultural Awards in 2024.
